My Example (unedited)-
The Black Dog
who obeyed my every command
shy(ed) away when things got rough
thought the cat was a threat & blocked my path
walked beside me like a soldier in a parade
nudged my hand to let me know you were there
let his sister steal his bones
laid on top of me though you were no lap-dog
golden eyes watching in silent question
long black tail like a golden retrievers wagging in
satisfied answer
the pillows thrown a bout the room
your sisters shows us you had sprawled on the couch
now she wears your collar bearing your name
since she lost her's
the only reminder that you were here
but peace took you a few steps
before you were lost to this word
