I’m the witch of this pristine country estate, aka the writer of this blog. You can call me Ashley (she/her).
It is on a winding forest path, where the cool wind flows through your hair. Warm smells of maple, oak, and pine rising through the air. Up ahead in the distance, you see a shimmering light. There in the doorway, you’ll see the candlelight. Follow it.
You’ve found the right place. There’s plenty of room here. Any time of the year, you can find it here.
You’ve come out here, into the space between seclusion and society, the boundary between domestic and the wild… to see the witch. Maybe just to see if my lodge is, in fact, just beyond the pond, across the little bridge. Where the turkeys and other wildlife walk around like they own the place. Can I offer you a glass of potion, poison, or wine? You never know when one may come in handy. As thanks, I take anything in return that is appreciated. But you’re not really in this space because you need a potion, are you? If only it were that simple. You’re here, in a world of your own, because on my balcony, you can sit with your face in the sun and listen to the song of the earth and feel your entire being-the torn, the whole, the bruises on your heart and the yearning in your mouth. I see the smile trying to crawl up the sides of your face and the deep hunger for something more in your belly. The things you’re struggling to tame and contain are the things that make me smile. I love that pure, beating heart in your chest and the fierce light in your eyes while the sparks zap from your fingertips as you stare into the flames of the fires in my fireplaces. Trust me to walk beside you.
Witches in the world I know are the pretty, pretty girls who dance in the courtyards. Some dance to remember, and some dance to forget. They carry the wisdom and intelligence of those before them of peace and war. They are the true queens, keeping the flames of love, desire, and pleasure burning in their veins, in the hearths, offering marriage and carrying generations to come, raising kings and empires. While others offer directions, and foresight, and distort your reality, we trade-in
potions, poisons, & wine.
This blog is to have a central, safe, and carefree space to connect with Y’all. Here you’ll find my Creative Writing content where you can read up on the craft and my writing. In the end, I hope you’ve created something you are proud of. I’ll be happy whether you interact with me on Medium or on my blog site via the forum or in the comments of posts.
